Artists and craft makers are sought to develop stunning new works for the Edinburgh Haematology Centre that pay homage to the environment of the Firth of Forth.

Expressions of interest are sought from artists and makers in relation to the commissioning of new works for the Edinburgh Haematology Centre, currently being re-provided within the Western General Hospital. The strategy for the site is driven by a focus on hand-produced works that have an emphasis on exquisite craft skill, aligning with the high quality of clinical care offered within the centre itself. The centre has a new graphic identity inspired by the three bridges crossing the Firth of Forth, linking Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Borders with Fife. Works created for the EHC should explore and celebrate the Firth of Forth which has an environmental, cultural and industrial heritage that is strongly linked to place and identity. WORKS IN PROGRESS will be powerfully rooted in a celebration of industrious craft skill, and the beauty and heritage of the handmade that has developed from Scotland’s origins to the present day.
